StackScribe

Free beta

Your technical know-how, encrypted in your browser.

StackScribe keeps the commands, notes, documents and PDFs you collect as a developer — organised by domain and chapter, easy to find again, and encrypted before they leave your browser.

The sandbox comes with example entries and is deleted after 3 days, unless you keep your work.

The StackScribe Timeline: recent entries with their type, category and tags, and the sidebar with domains and chapters
01 · Entries

Every kind of know-how, in its own shape

The command you needed last month, the steps that finally worked, the files that go with them.

  • Commands with their shell, expected output and notes
  • Bundles of related snippets and files
  • Layouts for entries that always look alike — a runbook, a study card
  • Categories and tags to group them

02 · Domains & chapters

Organised the way you learn

Put each subject in its own domain — Kubernetes, Linux, networking — and split it into chapters. A domain becomes a learning path you can follow from the first chapter to the last.

03 · Documents & PDFs

Read and annotate your documents

Upload PDFs, Markdown and text files. Highlight passages, add notes and draw on the page, then download the PDF with your annotations in it. Files and annotations are encrypted too.

04 · Search

Find it again in seconds

Press / and search your entries, then narrow them down by category, tag, status and date. The server can't read your content, so your browser builds the search index on your device.

Privacy

Encrypted in your browser, before it is sent

Your browser encrypts the content of what you write; the server stores what it cannot read. A 12-word recovery phrase, shown once, is your way back if you forget your password.

No advertising, no profiling, no third-party tracking. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

Encrypted

  • Entry content — commands, notes, descriptions, blocks
  • Documents and attached files
  • PDF annotations

Not encrypted

  • Entry titles
  • Categories and tags
  • Names of domains, chapters, organisations and teams

So lists and filters work. Keep secrets out of titles, tags and names.

Your data

Yours to take, any time

Export everything, decrypted

One file with all your entries, their history, comments, documents and annotations — JSON for StackScribe, Markdown for any editor, your files as they were. Readable without us.

Protect it with a passphrase

Seven words you keep. The file then opens only with them — here, or with the free age tool.

Bring it back, anywhere

Import into this account or another one: everything is encrypted again for the account that imports it. Undo for 24 hours.
